An amazing game for young Bruins star Byron Bitz. Bitzy chipped in two goals and took to the ice in the final minute but was unable to come away with the hat trick. With the B's winding down a 6-1 one win, the crowd begged and pleaded Coach Claude to put in Bitzy in the final minute with loud "we want Bitz" cheers bouncing off the Garden walls. When Coach obliged, the noise exploded as Bitz lept over the wall and on to the ice. Must have been a very nice moment for such a young player.
The Bruins cruised almost the entire game, holding large leads all night. In addition to Bitzy's two goals, Bergy contributed one in the opening seconds along with lovely goals from Aaron Ward, Mark Stuart, and the returning Michael Ryder. Ryder proved to be just what the Bruins were missing on the power play, hopefully turning the pp situation around in his first game back with his man-advantage goal.
Penalty Box: A game like this, no one deserves a penalty. If I had to dole one out, it would be to Milan Lucic for his hooking penalty in the final few seconds. Who knows if Bitzy would've gotten the hat downpour if the B's had kept that final minute momentum...
The Bruins continue their home stand on Thursday, when they take on the Anaheim Ducks visiting from the opposite side of the country. Should be an interesting bi-coastal battle.
